Marketing Tools & Basic Glossary
Here is the basic vocabulary list of all the things you will see and
some questions you might be asking yourself.
Don’t get overwhelmed with these things.
I can show you how it all fits in together, like your hand in a glove.
Social Media- Everyone is doing it, why?
All businesses need to do Social Media to get their name, their BRAND,
their product out there. It is social, and some say, better than a tv commercial.
Why does your business need Twitter, Facebook, LinkIN, Google+ ?
These are the Social Media giants and the numbers prove that this is
one of best marketing tools for you. There are still the traditional sources of
marketing, such as TV, Radio, newspaper ads, Direct Mail
(the stuff you get in the mailbox), PostCard marketing,
word of mouth, billboards, and free throwaways(newspapers).
BLOG- It is like a website, but a website is usually static-meaning
it doesn’t change what is on the page. A blog changes with
writing or posting an image (photo of graphic) almost like a
scrapbook or a journal.
Doesn’t EVERYONE have a blog? I mean, isn’t it oversaturated?
Why do you need one?
NO, it might seem that it is saturated, but everyone who wants to
promote themselves or their product or passion needs to have one.
How can I get people to read mine?
By writing articles like this one, or by making an offer, or by posting
something on Facebook or Tweet it or an article in LinkedIn.
Landing page- This is a separate page from your blog.
It is one page that is where you entice someone to look at training
you offer or product that will help them. This is where you will have an
OPT IN Form to capture your lead.
Squeeze page- Same as a Landing page. You put an Opt In form to capture a lead.
Autoresponder- What the heck is that? Aweber, GetResponse are two of them.
This is a program that automatically (you set up the schedule) sends out
emails to your leads every few days to remind them about the offer.
Opt In Form- Prospects enter their name, email, phone # for you to capture as a lead.
A lead is someone that will follow you and hopefully buy your main
product from you. A leads list is what in the ‘olden days’ someone called
their Rolodex- all your contacts- which is where the money is found.
Outsourcing- Expensive? Or can you get an “assistant” to fit your budget?
Where can I find reliable outsourcing? What do I ask for?
There are several avenues to getting a good person to do either
all the set up or just part of the set up of your blog, landing pages,
opt in forms, autoresponders, and even your videos. I can help you
with who to contact. I learned from others who they prefer.
Domain – Where to get one, what is it?
Why do you need one-or several,
HOW to choose a name for your domain.
It is either the name of your business, or your name that you
will Brand yourself with. When you get started, you can go
to Godaddy and buy one or several. I didn’t know in the beginning,
but I wish I had bought a package for several names. Godaddy is a
Brand and a Domain, Nordstrom’s is a Brand and a domain name
and so forth. You may already know what you want to have as your
main domain name- many choose their own name, then you can
Hosting- What is that, how does that work
It is a term that means your site will be kept in this space for
putting out over the internet. When you get your Domain name(s),
you will get hosting of your site(s) by using Hostgator, hence the name.
Affiliates- What are they- Referrals. By becoming an affiliate with a person or
a product or a brand, you can monetize (make money) by
referring them. This is how many folks start making
money to get by until their own product or mlm starts taking off.
How do you get them- When you buy or sign up for a product
you get your own URL to promote to your leads list
How do you promote them- in an email ‘blast’ or on FB, or tweet, or
article marketing.
What do you do about your primary product you promote- you
can affiliate that with your team. Sort of like telling a friend what a
good restaurant you went to then they go to the restaurant and the
owner gives you a free meal or desert for referring them
Product- Is that different from my mlm or business I promote?
Yes. When you offer some free training or online ebook etc,
something of value that is called a legal enticement. Then the
prospect Opts in giving you their name etc and they then become
your lead. Later they may ask about your mlm or big ticket item
you are selling. You can start with a Free offer, then a mid priced
offer and so forth. Always giving value, making you money as you go.
Do I need something else?
It is really the way people can make money just like a retail store.
Retail stores don’t sell just one thing.
Funnel- What the heck is a funnel?
Have you ever noticed as you walk into a store, or pay for an item,
there are always things along the way to buy. That is a funnel.
Funny thing is people want to buy something, so offer them something!
Gurus- Who is who and what does each one offer-their primary skill
Which one do I follow first? The top dogs, so to speak started
out just like you and me, broke, unknowing, and eager to change
all that. They are making serious money now. They learned
through their own hard earned knocks. I will be glad to share with
you what each one is famous for and what you need Right Now to start.
Coaching -
Do I need one?
Yes. Along the way you really will need one or more good coaching
sessions to not waste time or money, to get past some challenges.
How can I find the best fit? Is it expensive?
There is the Coaching Cognition group that offers
trained people who offer free -to $$$. Worth every penny to
your business. You can join private Master Mind groups
on Facebook. Everyone in a MasterMind helps each other grow.
Webinars- Where to find them,
When to watch them, will they be recorded, why are they important
Webinars are scheduled online training sessions, usually. Anyone can
hold a webinar, from the beginner to a guru, and you will see them
posted on the wall in Facebook, or a friend will invite you via email.
URL- It is your own personal link-address- that leads people to your Blog,
your website, or your articles.
Looks like this http://theuniquemarketer.com and you use them in
all your promotions, articles, and business cards etc.
